ASB has confirmed it will lower several variable home loan rates by 20 basis points following the Reserve Bank’s latest OCR decision, with changes taking effect within four business days of the announcement.
The bank’s housing variable rate will fall from 5.99% to 5.79%, while its Orbit variable rate will reduce from 6.09% to 5.89%. ASB’s Back My Build rate will also decrease from 3.54% to 3.34%. New customers will access the revised pricing from Friday 28th November, with existing customers benefiting from Tuesday 2nd December.
ASB said the decision ensures mortgage customers see timely relief as funding conditions ease. The reductions follow similar moves across the major banks as lenders adjust pricing to reflect lower wholesale interest rates and increased competition in the home loan market.
The bank’s changes add to ongoing repricing activity across both fixed and variable products, signalling a continuation of downward rate pressure as the sector responds to softer economic conditions and the Reserve Bank’s updated monetary policy outlook.
